You have no choice but to respect Kanye after seeing “Jeen-yuhs”

You may not be a fan of Kanye West because he is controversial but respect must be given to whom respect is due. Although we have seen just two episodes of the documentary, Jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy, we already respect the genius that is Kanye.

Jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy or “Jeen-yuhs” is a 2022 American documentary film directed by Coodie Simmons and Chike Ozah about the life of artiste, record producer, businessman, and fashion designer Kanye West.

The documentary captures Kanye’s determination to succeed against all odds and the very positive influence of Donda West on her son’s life which fuelled his self-belief. Much credit must also be given to Coodie for his commitment which enabled him to document Kanye’s life for two decades. Coodie’s work is detailed and takes the audience behind the scenes. We see the highs and lows of Kanye’s life in no way any documentary or film has portrayed any other artiste.  There are heartfelt and poignant moments in the film, and whilst we await the concluding episode of the trilogy, we know Kanye better and see him in a new light.

Episode one titled “Vision,” tells of how Kanye moved from Chicago to New York in his quest to transition from music producer to artiste. He faced a lot of rejection, but he got signed by Roc-a-fella by creatively taking matters into his hands. Episode two, “Purpose,” focuses on the events leading up to his car accident and the aftermath. Music was indeed his redemption and in the end, we have a story of when pain births greatness.

“Jeen-yuhs” is streaming on Netflix. The final episode will be released on 2 March and we are looking forward to it!
