Scoop Network is a new entertainment channel which made its debut on Kwese TV in July. The channel has an exclusive feed dedicated to Africa with African voiceovers. Its hub is currently in Kenya in line with plans to offer localised content.
At first, you think it’s similar to E! but it’s different.
Scoop Network is a 24-hour channel featuring celebrity news including African celebrities like Linda Ikeji, Basketmouth and Wizkid. It also airs entertainment magazine shows focusing on movies, music and fashion. At the moment, there are no reality TV shows or live coverage of events on the channel and we don’t know if that will happen in the future.
Shows on the channel include; Fashion Forward, Hollywood Buzz, Entertainment Weekly, Making the Movies, Snoop and Spotlight On.
The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) is also a big feature on this channel especially, the red carpet. Nigerian movies including ‘The Wedding Party’, ‘Royal Hibiscus Hotel’ and most recently, Genevieve Nnaji’s Lionheart’ have premiered at TIFF. Sadly, fans haven’t been able to share in the moment. With the launch of the entertainment channel in Africa, maybe we will finally begin to see coverage of the Nollywood showcases at TIFF.
Scoop Network is available on Kwese TV, channel 175.
